The Golden Unicorn

This golden unicorn was made with a strawberry cupcake, ( see cupcake recipes on this website) then iced with cream cheese decorator icing. A 1 M star tip was used to swirl icing on the cupcake. The horn is made of eggwhite fondant and painted with gold metallic paint (straight out of the bottle) and placed in the center of the cupcake with eggwhite fondant ears painted with pink metallic paint. Premade flowers highlighted with gold metallic paint are used on top.
Decorator Cream Cheese Icing
1 cup (8 oz) cream cheese 1 tablespoon butter 3 1/2 cups icing sugar 1 tablespoon sour cream 1 teaspoon vanilla
1. Cream together the cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl.
2. Add 1 cup icing sugar and the sour cream. Beat well.
3. Add 2 1/2 cups of icing sugar and vanilla and beat well.
Note: The sour cream can be eliminated in this recipe and replaced with another tablespoon of butter. This icing goes well on carrot, red velvet, or chocolate cake. This icing keeps well at room temperature for a few hours and covered in the refrigerator for a few days.
